This week for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, we had a go at matching whakataukī with their English equivalents.
We talked through the translations and the metaphorical meanings behind each one, and we’re being encouraged to pick a favourite and make use of it throughout the week.
It’s one small part of our wider bicultural journey as an organisation. Every Wednesday morning, our teams across the motu come together online for Kōrero Mai, where we continue learning about te reo Māori, tikanga, and te ao Māori.

Over the previous two weeks, our kōrero centred on Koroneihana, with our colleague Lisa, who attended the event in Ngāruawāhia, talking us through the proceedings and recapping some of the key speeches and processes.

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who takes part each week, and a special thanks to Lisa, who supports us so much on this journey.
