Why Key Assets?
We are a not-for-profit non-governmental organisation providing foster care, whānau support and specialist services throughout Aotearoa.
We work alongside mokopuna, whānau and mātua whāngai to create safer, more stable futures. Guided by our Waka Hourua Model, we provide practical, culturally responsive support that helps children and young people feel secure, connected and understood.
What We Believe
We believe their whakapapa, culture, identity and whānau connections are essential to the wellbeing of those in care. Wherever it is safe and possible, whānau should be supported to stay together and care for their mokopuna.
We also believe mātua whāngai provide the strongest care when they have trusted relationships, specialist guidance, practical training and ongoing support around them.
Lasting change happens when everyone works together, recognises the strengths of the mokopuna and keeps their needs at the centre of every decision.
Our Waka Hourua Model
Our Waka Hourua Model guides how we work, make decisions and move forward together. Like a double-hulled voyaging waka, it brings together our commitment to tangata whenua and Te Tiriti o Waitangi with the people, relationships and resources needed to deliver lasting support.
At its heart is our whakatauākī:
He mana tō te tamaiti.
He mea nui ngā wā katoa.
Every child has mana.
Every moment matters.
