ko wai ka taea te whangai?

Who can foster?

Foster care, or whāngai, involves providing temporary, safe, secure, and nurturing homes for mokopuna and young people in need.

People who become Mātua Whāngai don’t all fit one mould. They are steady, compassionate people from all walks of life who have the aroha, patience and resilience to stand alongside mokopuna/children when they need it most.

If you’re considering becoming a foster carer with Key Assets, here are some key requirements to get started:

Residency

Are you a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident?

Location

Are you located within Auckland, Waikato/BOP, or Christchurch areas.

Housing Requirements

Do you have a spare bedroom available within the main house?

“We put mokopuna and whānau at the centre.”
