Aroha in Action Starts Here
Across Waikato, mokopuna sometimes need a safe place to stay - quickly and briefly.
Emergency foster carers step in with care, patience and compassion, offering a home where young people can feel safe, supported and valued.
This isn’t about having all the answers – it’s about showing up with aroha when it matters most.
What Does Emergency Foster Care Look Like?
Emergency care is short-term and often arranged at short notice. It provides mokopuna in Waikato with a safe, stable environment while longer-term plans are made.
Placements may happen:
- During the day or late at night
- For a few days or a few weeks
- With little notice
- Supported by a Social Worker
- On call - 3 weeks on/3 weeks off cycle
But through it all, one thing remains the same – your care can create a sense of calm, safety and belonging.
Could This Be You?
We’re looking for people in the Waikato region to become emergency foster carers.
You might be:
- At home, or have a flexible schedule
- Able to respond at short notice
- Patient, calm and open to learning
- Comfortable supporting mokopuna with different needs
- Ready to be present, even during challenging moments
You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to care.
