About Key Assets

We’re a not-for-profit non-governmental organisation providing specialised foster care services across Aotearoa New Zealand for mokopuna/children, their whānau, and mātua whāngai/foster carers.

Key Assets New Zealand is part of the Key Assets Group of companies – a worldwide network of fostering agencies and services for children and young people. The Group was established in 1994, and has offices in Europe, South East Asia, Australasia, and North America.

What we believe

At Key Assets, everything we do aims to support and uphold the rights and mana of children.

We recognise every mokopuna is born with intrinsic worth and potential. We believe that nurturing the mana of the mokopuna in foster care generates great outcomes not only for the mokopuna themselves, but for future generations – strengthening their whakapapa.

What we do

Our approach aims to put the individual needs of the mokopuna first.

This allows us to really ‘get behind’ our mātua whāngai – equipping, enabling, and working alongside them to develop the best kind of support for the mokopuna in their care. Great foster care experiences require a team – so we work collaboratively with our mātua whāngai, Oranga Tamariki, and other professionals and services – like social workers, therapists, health professionals, educational professionals, respite carers, and cultural advisors. The mokopuna's whānau is also involved whenever possible.

We believe that a mokopuna should have their voice heard in the decisions that affect them, so we ensure they are able to participate and share their views throughout their time in care.

“Take them to the park, play with blocks – we make rocketship houses together! Take time to have fun with your foster kids and build those memories.”
