Diversity Awards NZ Gala Dinner
On the evening of Wednesday 24th August employees from Key Assets NZ, led by Director Angie Simpson, together with Cultural Advisors Brownie and Pare Rauwhero and HR Manager Leanne Mills attended the Diversity Awards NZ Gala Dinner at the Sky City Convention Centre in Auckland.
There were over 500 people in attendance representing organisations across New Zealand from various industries and sectors including education, building and construction, manufacturing/processing, aged care and the government and public sector. We had entries in three of the 9 award categories Empowerment, Positive Inclusion and Cultural Celebration. Our submission for Cultural Celebration was one of the top 3 in that category and we were up against some tough competition from the New Zealand Tertiary College and Unitec Institute of Technology.
In the end it was Unitec who took out this category for their work on Courageous Conversations. Whilst we may have come away from the evening without an award the Key Assets NZ team were already winners on many levels and we have again proven that size is not a barrier when it comes to taking a lead role on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The evening was a fantastic networking opportunity given the current environment in New Zealand for those working with vulnerable children and young people. Attendees heard about Key Assets and the work we do through the following short video produced by Diversity Works NZ as part of the judging process.
