Our Placements
At Key Assets we recruit foster carers who are able to offer placements to children and young people who may have experienced harm or neglect and whose parents may be struggling with their own lives.
Foundation Placements
This type of placement is available for suitable children and young people throughout the Auckland region.
Emergency Placements
We provide a 24 hours emergency service. Most of our foster carers are able to accept unplanned emergency placements for either individual children or sibling groups.
Short and Long Term Placements
The majority of our foster carers undertake short term task centred work with children and young people. This may involve foster carers contributing to the assessment of a child/young person's needs.
Equally some of our carers welcome the prospect of being able to provide long term care for a child or young person.
Bridging Placements
A bridging placement forms part of a longer term plan for the child and can sometimes last for up to two years. In these situations Key Assets foster carers work with children and young people to move to other placements, work towards helping a child/young person achieve independence or work with birth families towards rehabilitation. As with short term fostering placements, foster carers may be asked to contribute to the assessment of a child/young person's needs.
Parent and Child Assessment Placements
Some Key Assets foster carers are able to provide placements for young women who are pregnant or to mothers and/or fathers and their child, where the foster carers can provide advice and support and contribute to an assessment of parenting. Additional training is provided for foster carers providing such placements who will work closely with others as part of a professional team.
